Membership for the high-impact giving circle open for 2026

The Generosity Collective, a high-impact giving circle for Springfield supported by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, has granted $105,000 to address community priorities related to children.

The Generosity Collective’s second-year grants were presented during a celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the executive suites at Hammons Field. The recipients, each receiving $52,500, are:

  • Community Partnership of the Ozarks, to support the Springfield-Greene County Childcare Exchange, a statewide model to share an employee’s child care costs among between the State of Missouri, the employee and the employer, with support as needed from the community; and
  • Missouri Empowerment Project, to expand its Intensive Family Services program, which supports families involved in the child welfare system to prevent child abuse and neglect, reduce foster care placements, and promote family reunification.

Both the grantmaking focus areas and grant recipients were selected by the Generosity Collective’s entire membership — a hallmark of giving circles.

“Giving circles are built by like-minded individuals rallying their support around a common cause,” said Winter Kinne, president and CEO of the CFO. “Many GenCo members are parents of young children, so it’s no surprise that they chose to address two persistent “Red Flags” related to children in our community.

Since its formation in 2023, the Generosity Collective has granted nearly $250,000 to nonprofits to address “Red Flag” community priorities identified in the Community Focus Report for Springfield and Greene County. Membership for the Generosity Collective is now open for 2026. Visit cfozarks.org/genco for more information

What is a giving circle?

A giving circle allows like-minded individuals to pool donations, learn about community needs and collectively determine grant recipients best suited to address those needs. The charitable “dues” for membership and grantmaking focus vary with each giving circle. According to a 2023 report by the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy, Colmena Consulting and Philanthropy Together, about 4,000 giving circles are active in the U.S. The CFO and its affiliate foundations support about three dozen active giving circles in the region.
