CFO encourages donations, issues grant for flooding recovery

July 20, 2026

Grant to East Missouri Action Agency assists resident of Iron, St. Francois, Washington counties

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks is encouraging donations to the Southern Missouri Recovery Fund to support communities affected by flooding from the July 10 storms. Secure, tax-deductible donations can be made at cfozarks.org/somorecovery.

Grants from the fund will support nonprofits providing immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts to community members affected by recent flooding.

To assist impacted residents of Iron, St. Francois and Washington counties, the CFO has granted $20,000 to East Missouri Action Agency. Community members in those counties who need assistance can call 573-431-5191 or 800-392-8663.

To fund the grant, the CFO dedicated $15,000 from The Funders Network’s Philanthropic Preparedness, Resiliency and Emergency Partnership in addition to $5,000 of its own grantmaking funds. PPREP is a cohort of community foundations in 10 midwestern states that are engaged in developing philanthropic resources for disaster recovery. Community foundations often play a critical role when a community experiences a disaster, coordinating fundraising and grantmaking for long-term recovery after other agencies provide immediate response and relief services.

Nonprofits that are distributing funds to individuals impacted by flooding from the July 10 storms are encouraged to contact the CFO at 417-864-6199.
