Give Ozarks Day 2021

Frequently Asked Questions for Donors

What is Give Ozarks Day?

Give Ozarks Day is the CFO’s online “giving day” event for its nonprofit agency partners. Previously held each May in 2015, 2016 and 2017, the three events raised more than $3.5 million for agency partners. The event is returning from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, with the theme “Rally for Recovery” to give agency partners the opportunity to raise operating funds that were lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sponsors for the 2021 event include: Bass Pro Shops; Burrell Behavioral Health; Central Bank and Central Trust Co.; the Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation managed by Commerce Trust; the Darr Family Foundation; Great Southern Bank; Guaranty Bank; the Hatch Foundation; Legacy Bank; Ollis/Akers/Arney; and SFC Bank. Media sponsors are KY3/KSPR and Springfield Business Journal.

How do I donate on Give Ozarks Day?

Go to GiveOzarks.org or CauseMomentum.org. You can search for a specific agency, view all of the participating agencies, or search by category for a particular area of interest. Once you decide to make a donation, click the “Donate Now” button on that agency’s page and follow the prompts. After your gift is complete, it will be added to the agency’s total and the overall total in real time.

When can I give?

Secure online credit card donations can be made to an agency’s project from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 24, 2021, and will be powered by CauseMomentum.org, the CFO’s crowdfunding platform. All donation portals will automatically shut down at 7 p.m., so be sure to get last-minute gifts in.

It’s been a few years, but I’ve donated on CauseMomentum or Give Ozarks in the past. Can I still use my same username and password?

Yes! Sign in with your same username and password. If you have trouble logging in, try resetting your password or clearing the cache and cookies on your browser. If you still have trouble, you can always check out as a guest (see next question).

I don't want to create an account. Can I still make a donation?

Yes! You are welcome to check out as a guest. The confirmation email that you will receive after your donation will serve as your gift acknowledgment letter for tax-deductibility purposes.

I don't want to make an online credit card gift. Can I still support my favorite agency?

You are welcome to donate directly to an agency by cash or check; however, your gift will not count towards the hourly prizes available to agencies, nor will it be included in the running total for the agency’s project.

Can I challenge others to make a matching gift?

Yes! But we do not have a feature that allows for automatic matches. We recommend coordinating the match with the agency. They can let you know when to make your matching gift to the project.

What fees are associated with my gift?

The Give Ozarks secure credit-card processor, Stripe, will take a 3.5 percent transaction fee. There is also a 1 percent platform fee taken by the CFO at the time of distribution to your chosen agency on most donations except for endowment gifts.

Can I help cover my transaction fees?

Yes! At checkout, you will have the option to cover your own transaction fee, which is 2.2 percent of the total, plus .30 cents. So, for example, if you give $10 and choose to cover your transaction, this will add 52 cents to your donation, so that the net amount coming to the agency more closely approximates your original intended gift. You can check or uncheck that box, depending on whether you want to cover your transaction fee.

Why do I need to create an account and give my address?

It is necessary for reporting purposes for you to register and include your name and address when making a gift. You will not leave the site, and only have to enter your information and address once. Click “Keep me logged in” and all future transactions will only require your credit card information.

Can I donate anonymously?

Yes. But you must check the “make my gift anonymous” box during the donation process.

Do you store my credit card information?

No, neither the CFO nor the agencies will have access to or retain your credit card information. You will need to re-enter your information for subsequent gifts.

Can I make donations to more than one agency with one transaction?

Yes! Similar to online shops, the shopping cart feature allows you to donate to multiple projects with a single transaction on your credit card (as well as a single transaction fee of 2.2 percent plus .30 cents).

If I make multiple gifts in a single transaction, how will that fee be split among the agencies?

Each agency will be feed 2.2 percent of its respective portion of the total. The 30 cent portion of the fee will be divided evenly among the agencies. So, for example, if you have three different agencies receiving donations from the transaction, each agency will pay 10 cents (plus its 2.2 percent). In the case where the 30 cents does not divide evenly (four, for example), the agency’s share will be rounded up to the nearest penny.

Are there prizes available to agencies on Give Ozarks Day?

Yes! We have $60,000 up for grabs thanks to our generous sponsors. Each hour, an agency will have one chance to win a $5,000 “luck of the draw” prize for each unique donor. If an agency wins one of these hourly prizes, they will not be eligible for additional hourly prizes.

Will “shredding” my donations – i.e., making ten $10 donations instead of one $100 donation – help my favorite agency win one of the hourly prizes?

No! You will only count once as a “unique donor” each hour for each agency to which you donate. You can, however, make a donation each hour throughout the day. Better yet, you can encourage all of your friends and followers on social media to donate to your favorite agency’s project to increase their chances of winning a prize.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes! To the fullest extent allowable by the IRS. You will receive a confirmation at the e-mail address you provide that also serves as your official notification for next year’s tax purposes. You also will have a Tax History available on the website that you can refer to using the account you created. Just go to www.causemomentum.org (the parent site for Give Ozarks), click “Sign In.” After you sign in click “Profile” and then “My Profile” at the top of the page. On your Profile dashboard you should see a “Tax History” tab.

Will my name appear on the agency’s page?

If you have not checked the “make my gift anonymous” box, then yes. Go back to your chosen agency’s Give Ozarks project and click on the “Supporters” tab. All non-anonymous donors will be listed there.

Is there something I can share on social media or my website to explain to others how to give?

Yes! We would welcome your participation in sharing your gift and general information about Give Ozarks Day: Rally for Recovery. We encourage you to use the hashtag #GiveOzarks when you share on social media. You can also share donor videos. Encouraging your friends and followers to donate to your favorite agency or their own favorite agencies will make the event a success!
