First round of grants support Native American Heritage Celebration, orchestral concerts, Ukrainian culture education
The Community Foundation of the Ozarks has selected the first recipients of the Inclusion & Belonging Grants for the 2023–24 grant cycle. The program supports small grant requests to ensure equitable participation and engagement in local communities.
The three recipients, receiving a total of $5,188, are:
- Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife Foundation: $3,000 to support, in partnership with the American Indian Center of Springfield, the Native American Heritage Celebration on Oct. 13 and 14 to bring awareness to Native American culture.
- Missouri Philharmonic Orchestra: $1,500 to support the Minority Leadership Grant for its 2023–24 concert series in southwest Missouri.
- Nixa R-II School District: $688 to support the “Cultural Kaleidoscope” program about Ukraine for its English Language Development Department.
The Inclusion & Belonging Grant Program allows agencies to apply for up to $3,000 to support expenses related to: ensuring diverse representation in leadership roles and the community; providing students with equitable opportunity for community engagement and leadership; and hosting events that ensure visible representations of belonging in the Ozarks. Applications are reviewed and awarded throughout the year. About $34,000 remains available.
