Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation Regional Grantmaking Program

The Louis and Dorothy Coover Regional Grantmaking Program is a partnership between Commerce Trust Company and CFO. The Coover Program supports new and innovative programs or projects that address regional needs through advocacy, public education or capacity building. Organizations with regional service areas that are primarily outside of metropolitan Springfield and Greene County are encouraged to apply. Please note that the awards committee does not typically consider capital projects.Coover grant requests are due by 5:00 P.M. January 18, 2008. Awards are February 7, 2008.

The following program areas are available for the Coover grant round:

Health & Social Services

Health and Social Services grants mobilize resources to those people and communities in need.

  • Health: Projects which promote or enhance the mental, physical, or emotional welfare of people.
  • Social Services: Projects which improve the standard of living of people in challenging situations.

Arts/Culture & Entertainment

Arts, Culture, and Community Betterment grants celebrate, enhance, and cultivate living, working, and recreational community endeavors.

  • Arts and Culture: Projects which articulate ideas, beliefs, and feelings through the realm of dance, theater, and the visual arts or projects which help people learn about their history, literature, and the ideologies that shape our democracy.
  • Environment: Projects which foster the preservation of the environment, beautification of local surroundings, and promotion of safe and healthy environments for our community.

Education & Community Development

Education and Community Development grants facilitate a progressive community by supporting programs that give people advances in education and promotes an understanding of cultural diversity.

  • Education: Projects that support lifespan development and learning
  • Community Development: Grants which provide a better quality of life for our community and/or grants which empower the marginalized and promote the inclusiveness of the community’s diverse populations and cultures.

General Procedures For All Grant Cycles 

Grant applicants must complete the Online Application. Grant recipients will participate in an Evaluation and Monitoring Program in order to provide information about outcome and effectiveness of the grant.
