Brian Fogle joins CFO as Executive Vice President

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks is pleased to announce that Springfieldian Brian Fogle has been named Executive Vice President for the organization. Fogle will join CFO on September 1, 2008. He will be involved in all aspects of the Foundation including development, operations, and grants/programs. In addition, Fogle will be integrally involved in the Foundation’s regional efforts, working closely with affiliated Foundation leadership throughout the Missouri Ozarks. (more…)






Historic West Plains building to be featured on KSMU

KSMU’s A Sense of Place continues this Wednesday, July 23 with a look at the historic Aid’s building in downtown West Plains. The former hardware store dates back to the late 19th Century. Still owned by the Aid family, the building continues to be a central feature in West Plains’ downtown landscape. This edition of A Sense of Place will air on Wednesday, July 23, in two segments at 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. More information and audio archives of the series can be found on KSMU’s web site. The series is supported by The History Museum for Springfield-Greene County, a CFO Endowment Partner, and Founders Park.

The Community Foundation of West Plains will be featured on July 31 with two segments airing at 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. as part of KSMU’s Making a Difference Where You Live series. Making a Difference Where You Live is a collaboration between KSMU and the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. Each quarter the series will focus on a topic that explores how volunteerism and philanthropic efforts address community needs.






Updates to Springfield community grantmaking program announced

Unrestricted grantmaking programs allow the Foundation, in our work with area leaders and service organizations, to identify and develop effective answers to the challenges facing our community: local resources for local solutions to local issues. Community Foundation of the Ozarks continues to improve the means by which we deliver on our promise to give something back to the community, and in keeping with that effort we are pleased to announce several new features for our Metropolitan Springfield Community Grantmaking Program, including an exciting new partnership with the Musgrave Foundation.

The Metropolitan Springfield program will distribute approximately $780,000 for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Of this amount, CFO budgeted $200,000 already for the ECHO project (the flagship component of the Grantmakers Challenge for Children); the remaining $580,000 will be available through five grant rounds focusing on six areas of emphasis.
