News and Updates
One of the major achievements of the 2011 fiscal year in Willow Springs was the establishment of a Dolly Parton Imagination Library for children in and around the Howell County town. Through the program, enrolled children receive one book every month by mail from birth until the age of five, courtesy of the Dollywood Foundation. The non-profit organization runs on donations, and had collected more than $6,500 in donations by early fall. It costs approximately $30 per year to mail the books to each child enrolled in the program.
Other accomplishments in Willow Springs this year included the establishment of the Willow Springs Education Foundation and several different funds under their umbrella including a gymnasium renovation fund. The foundation also continues its mission of establishing affordable housing for the community, which was the focus of most distributions this year.
