CF of Taney County Completes Hunger Challenge

Two Taney County food pantries received more than $33,000 in new funding after successfully matching the Ozarks Million Dollar Hunger Challenge II grant made possible by Walmart State Giving Foundation through a partnership with the Community Foundation of Taney County and the Ozarks Food Harvest. Checks of $23,022.86 and $10,012.48 were made out to Christian Action Ministries and CAM of Forsyth, respectively.

Milestones, Beautification and a Half-Million Ways of Giving Back

OACAC—Branson was among the recipients of a community grant from the Community Foundation of Taney County during the 2011 fiscal year. This grant was earmarked for the group’s school readiness fair.

For an example of an affiliate community foundation taking multiple CFO initiatives to heart and excelling at each, look no farther than the Community Foundation of Taney County. Major efforts in the areas of planned giving, place-based education and community grantmaking all paid off in big ways for Taney County in FY11.

As an example of planned giving, CFTC President Doug Jordan points to Vera Hardin, of Forsyth, who established the Vera Hardin Charitable Fund, a capacity fund to help with her regular planned giving. Taney County now has five Legacy Society members, as well, which was an area of focus region-wide during the year.

Community grantmaking was again a cornerstone of the year for the foundation. The CFTC distributed nearly $20,000 to Taney County organizations in grants alone, much of it to the City of Rockaway Beach to create an economic development department and a strategic plan. Other beneficiaries included OACAC-Branson, the Forsyth Public Library and others.

Finally, congratulations are in order for the entire Community Foundation of Taney County for reaching the half-million dollar mark in distributions since it was created in 2002, one of only a dozen CFO affiliates to hit the benchmark.

The Branson Area Community Grantmaking Fund awarded $1,900 in grants to seven agencies at a presentation in late June.
