PO Box 247, Ste. Genevieve, Missouri 63670
Established April 4, 2003
The Ste. Genevieve County Community Foundation was formed in 2003 to serve as a channel for philanthropic efforts in our communty. We are dedicated to helping those that want to “give back” to our community in order to make it a better place to live in the future. The mission of the Ste. Genevieve County Community Foundation is to serve as a “ready made” tax exempt foundation, or charity, for people who wish to contribute money or property for the lasting benefit of the people and communities of Ste. Genevieve County.
By making a contribution to the SGCCF, you are ensuring that your donation will help build a brighter future close to home, benefiting the community in a lasting way. The only requirements are that the gift must be for charitable purposes and it must benefit the people and communities of Ste. Genevieve County.
Donors may choose to be publicly acknowledged, or to make an anonymous contribution. Gifts to the SGCCF are 100% tax deductible.

Charitable Donation of Funds or Property
A direct, tax deductible donation of funds or property can be made to the SGCCF during your lifetime or it can be specified in your will. The donor can select a charitable cause for which he or she wishes to contribute, and the Foundation can carry out that wish, or the donor may allow the Foundation to determine the specific needs to be met.
1. One time Gift or Memorial: Your donation can be for a one time gift, or a family may ask for memorials to go to the SGCCF.
2. Charitable Gift Annuities: You may choose to set up a charitable gift annuity, which guarantees a lifetime income to you or your designee, with the balance to be donated to the SGCCF.
Some examples of the types of charitable causes that have been funded by the SGCCF to date include:
- Children’s Advocacy Center
- Friends of the Ste. Genevieve Museum
- Hospice Care of Ste. Genevieve
- People to People
- Restoration of Ste. Genevieve Memorial Cemetery
- Ste. Genevieve Memorial Cemetery
- Ste. Genevieve Public Access Television
- The Bloomsdale Volunteer Fire Dept.
- The Ste. Genevieve County Recycling Center
- College Scholarships: We award two annual, renewable $2,000 a year scholarships to local students (one per high school)
Potential Donors: These are just the beginning of the types of projects that can be enhanced or established through the efforts of the Ste. Genevieve County Community Foundation.
Our motto of “Working together to build a brighter future” could emcompass a wide range of beneficial community objectives, provided we continue to get the support to make it happen.
Setting up an Endowment Fund Through SGCCF
For individuals and organizations who are interested in contributing to a long term endowment fund where only the earnings on principle will be used to meet the needs of the community. There are various kinds of endowment funds that can be set up:
1. Designated Fund: A Designated Fund is one that provides for a specific charitable purpose. The donor can specify whatever charitable purpose he or she desires.
2. Field of Interest or Donor Advised Funds: A Field of Interest Fund might be set up to help a general cause such as improvements in healthcare, arts/culture or public spaces in our community, with the choice of a specific program to be decided on by the Board of Directors. In a Donor Advised Fund, the donor can specify distributions from the fund to a charitable purpose or purposes from time to time in the future.
3. Unrestricted Fund: This is a charitable fund set up for the benefit of the Ste. Genevieve community in general, where the Board of Directors of the SGCCF are asked to select the most urgent needs of the community from time to time.
How the Donation is Invested
Any donation made to the SGCCF will be carried out according to the donor’s wishes. If a long term endowment fund is set up, the principle will be managed by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO), with whom SGCCF is an affiliate member. CFO manages endowment funds totaling in excess of $53 million for participating community foundations in Missouri. This will enable your donation to obtain the benefits of investment diversification that can be achieved with a large fund.
Types of Donations
Donations of any size are appreciated. Your donation could be monetary, or could consist of stock, real property or other assets. There can be extra tax advantages resulting from gifts of appreciated property. The Foundation has access to planned giving experts to counsel you about the tax saving options.

Goals of SGCFF
A community foundation is a method for people of all financial means to make a lasting difference in their community, now and in the future. Community foundations can do this by providing donors with flexible, efficient and tax effective ways to assure donors that their charitablhe giving achieves the greatest impact.
It is the hope and desire of the SGCCF that many people and organizations will want to give something back to the community in order to make it an even better place to live in the future.
We welcome your inquries regarding donations or the needs of the community.
