Marshfield Area CF Completes Hunger Challenge II
The Elkland Christian Church food pantry received more than $8,000 in funds thanks to the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, the Walmart State Giving Foundation and Ozarks Food Harvest as part of the Ozarks Million Dollar Food Challenge II. The matched contributions will help feed Webster County’s hungry residents at a most important time of year.
Of Boots, Bands and Betterment

Jerry Nehl, Director of the Webster County Food Pantry, accepts a check for $11,000 from Marshfield Area Community Foundation President Rob Foster on the successful completion of the Ozarks Million Dollar Hunger Challenge.
The Marshfield Area Community Foundation incorporates a mix of tradition and new partnerships to make a difference in and around Marshfield, including the Webster County towns of Niangua and Elkland.
Every fall, the MACF holds its Boots, Bands & Barbeque celebration as a signature event for the annual presentation of its community grants, as well as a fundraiser for the foundation and get-together for the town. ]\
The event is branded and well-known in the community, and offers wonderful barbecue, top notch entertainment, and fun for all who come out to the barn-dance style party. The event grows consistently and proves to be an enthusiastic and interactive evening of community charity for Marshfield and Webster County.
The MACF partnership with the Board of Directors of the Vivian Stuber Memorial Library is perhaps one of the best examples of a community working together to make the quality of life better for it citizens. This purpose being the precise mission of the MACF, its partnership with the Library board is a natural. This endeavor is on a fast track because the Stuber Board has led an entire community to react to a deliberate and specific call to action.
“What is going on there is not just the opening of a library, it is the building of a stronger community in the town of Niangua,” MACF President Rob Foster said. “In this business, there can be no greater legacy than that.”
