Dallas County CF Completes Ozarks Hunger Challenge
DCCF board members present a check to Heart2Heart food pantry.
The Dallas County Community Foundation completed the second phase of the Ozarks Million Dollar Hunger Challenge this fall, raising $13,567 with thanks from a matching grant from Walmart and Ozarks Food Harvest. The monies will benefit the Dallas County food pantries at Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church and Heart2Heart.
Shewmaker Performing Arts Center Benefits from Cooper Challenge
The Dallas County Community Foundation collaborated with Dallas County Public Schools to earn a $10,000 matching grant for the Shewmaker Performing Arts Center Technology Enhancement Fund through the second phase of the Harry Cooper Supply Company Campaign for the Ozarks.
In addition to the $10,000 match, the CFO awarded an additional $1,000 for a total of $31,000 designated for the Shewmaker Performing Arts Center educational endowment.
The endowment fund is designated for basic maintenance and technology improvements at the Shewmaker Center, which opened in 1997 to serve the district’s arts and communications programs.
“Jack would be very happy,” said Melba Shewmaker, whose late husband, Jack, supported the creation of the Shewmaker Center at the urging of his sister, Mary Lou Beckner, a drama and Spanish teacher at Buffalo for 21 years. “He was very proud of this place.”
