News and Updates

CCF Board President Kathy Lasley, Earl Simmerly and Ted Hurley present a $1,500 grant to the First Baptist Missionary on behalf of the Bourbon American Legion.

It has been a productive year in Crawford County, with community improvement and the well-being of area children as the main themes.

The Crawford County Foundation, Inc., made two grants totaling $2,000. The gifts included a donation to the First Baptist Missionary on behalf of the Bourbon American Legion, and a $500 donation to the Bourbon Community Center.

But the year’s major focus was on the CCF’s biggest project, the All Aboard Learning Center. Earlier this year, the center received its accreditation.

The CCF parent board, Director Teresa Switzer, and her staff all worked hard in pursuit of accreditation. The official announcement came on Feb. 24, 2011 by Missouri Accreditation for programs caring for infant/toddler, pre-school and school age children. Missouri Accreditation sets qualitative standards related to the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth opportunities afforded to children enrolled at AALC.

The Crawford County Foundation’s primary mission is to reach the greatest number of children, youths and adults in Crawford County by supporting educational and physical development through guidance and financial support.

Over the course of two years, the CCF raised more than $800,000 to build this state-of-the-art childcare facility to provide a safe and fun learning environment for children while keeping rates at or below market.

The center opened in October 2004 and is a state-licensed, 7,500-square-foot building with a capacity for 94 children. The All Aboard Learning Center is a reflection of what a community can do when businesses, individuals and families come together to make a dream a reality.

Child-care facilities pursuing accreditation do so voluntarily and patrons can be assured that children attending an accredited facility are in the best possible environment to flourish intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.
